Your First Observation

This guide walks you through a complete observation in Elevate, start to finish. Set aside a few minutes before a real lesson to try it.

Before you walk in

1. Open Elevate and select New Observation.
2. Choose the teacher, subject, and grade level.
3. Pick the language of the lesson (defaults to English).
4. Run the audio quality check — a short test recording that confirms your microphone and transcription are working.

Requirement: Elevate needs microphone access in your browser. If prompted, choose Allow.

During the lesson

1. Select Start to begin recording. The timer shows elapsed time.
2. Add notes as you observe — each note is timestamped to the moment you wrote it.
3. Use quick tags for one-tap observations like "Clear Instructions" or "High Engagement".
4. Open the live transcript panel any time to follow along.

Note: Observation sessions are capped at 45 minutes. You can pause and resume at any point.

Wrapping up

1. Select End and add any post-observation notes.
2. Select Generate Report. Elevate scrubs student names and drafts your report.
3. Refine it in the Report Builder, then export to PDF.
