Taking Notes and Quick Tags
Capture what you observe with timestamped notes and one-tap quick tags.
As you observe, Elevate makes it easy to capture moments without taking your eyes off the classroom. Every note is timestamped to the moment you add it, so it lines up with the transcript later.
Two ways to capture a moment
- Text notes — type what you see in your own words.
- Quick tags — one tap to log a common observation.
Quick tags
Quick tags are grouped into four categories, each with positive tags and "needs improvement" tags:
- Observation — for example, "Clear Instructions" or "Unclear Directions."
- Engagement — for example, "High Engagement" or "Off-Task Behavior."
- Management — for example, "Effective Management" or "Disruptions Unaddressed."
- Question — for example, "Higher-Order Questions" or "Only Recall Questions."
Tapping a tag drops a timestamped note instantly, so you can stay present in the room. For the complete list, see the Quick tag reference.
Why timestamps matter
Because notes and tags are timestamped, Elevate can connect them to what was being said at that moment. That's what lets your report cite real evidence from the lesson.
Tip: Use quick tags for fast, recurring moments and text notes for the specifics you'll want to quote later. A mix of both makes for the richest report.
