Browser and Hardware Requirements
What you need to run Elevate and get the best observation quality.
Elevate runs entirely in your web browser — there's no app to install. Here's what gives you the smoothest experience.
Browser
Use an up-to-date modern web browser. Keep it current so audio capture and transcription work reliably.
Microphone
Recording an observation requires a working microphone that your browser is allowed to use. For the best transcript:
- A headset or external microphone generally outperforms a built-in laptop mic.
- Position the microphone toward where the talking happens.
- Reduce background noise where you can.
See Audio and microphone issues if the audio check gives you trouble.
Internet connection
The live transcript needs a steady internet connection. A stable Wi-Fi or wired connection keeps transcription flowing. If your connection is unreliable, see Transcription connection issues.
Device
A laptop is ideal for running observations. Elevate also works on tablets and phones for reviewing reports and getting around, though a laptop with a good microphone is best for recording.
Tip: Keep your device plugged in or well-charged for longer observations, and keep the Elevate tab open and the screen awake while you record.
